Iran is the second producer of dates in the world
With the annual production of one million and 400 thousand tons of dates in the country, Iran has turned Iran into the second pole of date production in the world after Egypt. In the country, about 260 thousand hectares of gardens are planted with palm trees and there are 100 different types of palm trees. Currently, 6 date varieties of the country, including Otamran of Khuzestan, Pyaram of Haji Abad Hormozgan, Rabi of Sistan and Baluchistan, Mozafati Bam and Kabkab and Zahedi Talai of Bushehr have been registered internationally. The volume of production of dates in the country is high and it is surplus to domestic consumption, converting it into other products cannot sell the entire production of dates, so marketing of dates should be developed. Along with the development of packaging industries, date conversion and processing industries, one of the most important solutions to reduce the market challenges of this product is to find its way to global markets and find international customers. Dates can have a lot of added value and due to the fact that it can be converted into various products, it is expected to play a role in exports and foreign exchange with proper marketing, better and more than in the past.
